It feels wrong to enjoy this beautiful day in Texas while so many suffer in Japan enduring an 8.9 earthquake, it's aftershocks and tsunami. My cousin Ryan and his wife Brandi live in the Kumamoto area of Japan (I hope I have that right.) So, I was very worried about them until I found out that they were safe. But my heart goes out to everyone there. We love you Japan, be well!
So, Japan is on my mind and I decided to display the wonder, creativity and courage of the Japanese youth. I have always been intrigued by the unique and courageous street fashion of Tokyo. There are many fashion trends known by many names. To the casual eye, they look alike. However, they are very different from each other. Harajuku named after the Harajuku shopping district in Tokyo was made famous by Gwen Stefani. "Cosplay" or costume roleplay derives from anime and international motion pictures. There are many other styles. An interesting source is Japanese Streets.
Attending the 2011 SXSW Festival featuring the newest in music, film & interactive?
Not sure which music acts to check out? Afterall, there are so many and their names aren't recognizable. YET :)
For an AMAZING live stream mix of musicians playing at this years SXSW festival in Austin, TX go to JB's SXSW Fest Select at MIX 94.7 where you may hear many selections from wonderful new artists. There is a brief furniture commercial, then a mix player offers an eclectic variety of unique artists. My favorites so far are Andrew Allen, Reptar, and Kina Grannis. It may take a while to load, but it's well worth the wait.
Following leather creations by Nicole Richie, Natalie Portman might want us to look at alternatives in vegan collections. According to the New York Daily News, Academy Award Winner Natalie Portman recently asked Christian Dior to make leather-free shoes for her.
Here are some great vegan options available at MooShoes:
Nicole Richie has been instrumental in bringing boho-chic into mainstream fashion. She appears cool and confident here in InStyle Magazine Australia. Winter Kate is Nicole's clothing line. House of Harlow 1960 is a line of accessories inspired by Native American designs.
Watching the impelling documentary, "Earthlings," was for me, a life-changing experience. This amazing film is the hard-core evidence of inter-species warfare against the more gentle creatures of our planet.
I feel grateful towards those who have the courage to devote their lives to giving animals a voice. Sincere thanks to Earthlings and those who created it! Support them by purchasing the high-quality DVD at Earthlings.com. If that doesn't make financial sense for you, at least view a free version here. It will change your life.
