I spent my birthday at the wonderful steampunk restaurant, The East Side Show Room, in Austin, Texas.
When you step into this family-owned restaurant, it feels like you've come out the other side of a Jules Verne Time Machine. The interiors are custom made and beautifully designed in Steampunk. The lighting is amazing! Complete with a "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" upside-down antique diving helmet turned light fixture. Colorful vintage bottles reflect beautiful light and a large screen shows continuous funny & romantic silent movies. The bar is known for it's "vintage cocktails" and we enjoyed some "giggle water." Rich gnocchi and fried baby carrots with greens intact and fresh, crisp salad were topped off with lightly-sweet strawberry mousse and pistachio crumbles. Delicious.
