Watch the sky tonight for a rare event. People around the world are capturing the very bright planets Venus and Jupiter as they draw closer in the west after sunset this month. Tonight, the waxing crescent moon will sweep past these planets.

Eco-Boho: Oceana by Ted Danson

 

Ted Danson appeared on NBC's Today Show this morning promoting his new book "Oceana."

 

The organization Oceana is the world's largest marine conservation group.  Ted Danson makes the point in his hopeful book that "of all the charitable giving in this country about 1% goes to the ocean, 99% to land-based charities.  But when you look at the surface of the earth those numbers are almost reversed. This is why this book is so timely."  He urged others to become e-activists so that they could tell their grandchildren that they did something about the endangered oceans.

Japanese Street Style Fashion - Tokyo, Japan

It feels wrong to enjoy this beautiful day in Texas while so many suffer in Japan enduring an 8.9 earthquake, it's aftershocks and tsunami. My cousin Ryan and his wife Brandi live in the Kumamoto area of Japan (I hope I have that right.)  So, I was very worried about them until I found out that they were safe.  But my heart goes out to everyone there.  We love you Japan, be well!

So, Japan is on my mind and I decided to display the wonder, creativity and courage of the Japanese youth.  I have always been intrigued by the unique and courageous street fashion of Tokyo.  There are many fashion trends known by many names.  To the casual eye, they look alike.  However, they are very different from each other.  Harajuku named after the Harajuku shopping district in Tokyo was made famous by Gwen Stefani.  "Cosplay" or costume roleplay derives from anime and international motion pictures.  There are many other styles.  An interesting source is Japanese Streets.
